Pashan lake is famous for its birdlife. It is one of the important natural heritage sites of Pune city. The lake is a refuge to variety of local as well migratory birds. Winter is the season when one can observe both these types of birds at the lake. The walk will provide keys on how to identify birds, their behavioral ecology and their role in lake ecosystem. Present status and the impact of unthoughtful interventions on the ecosystem will also be discussed.

Rama Madhav : Directed by Mrinal Kulkarni the film Rama Madhav is based on the Era of the Peshwa Period. It is 17th Century’s immortal love story. The film begins with Madhav, son of Peshwa Narayanrao Peshwa; getting married to little Ramabai. Madhavrao is made the next Peshwa of the Maratha Empire. But, Nanasaheb’s brother Raghunathrao , who is supposed to assist him in the administrative affairs, walks out of the office displaying his anger, having lost his chance. Then begins the love and hate story of this film, after Rama grows older by six years, and under the peshwaship of brave Madhavrao, Maratha power recovering from the losses suffered during the Panipat Campaign.

FTII was once the campus of Prabhat Film Company- one of the leading film studios of India. It was built 81 years ago. Film Studio was a unique institution that had a talent pool and facilities to produce various films under one roof. Studios were self-sufficient, disciplined and were called as karkhanas. It was an important stage in the history of Indian film history.This tour will illustrate many aspects of the functioning of the studio, a visit to the Museum and we will also see a short film which depicts the achievements and cultural legacy of the studios. Special feature – the only surviving black and white film lab in the country!

The “Doodling Pune Heritage” art event is an attempt to appreciate the architectural wealth of Pune through the medium of fine art. Workshop participants will be taken through a short session on the historical background of a few Pune monuments and how to interpret them from the point of view of an artist. Subsequently, the participants will be taught doodling techniques, composition, ideation and use of different art supplies to create a finished art work. Participants will be given the choice of selecting a Mug or a Notebook to do their final art work on, which they can take back home. Everyone has a unique vision to see and interpret things which is also true for how we perceive the monuments in our city, this workshop is a homage to bring out that vision and keep Pune Heritage alive in our hearts and minds.

This is most beautifully reflected in the vibrant colours, exquisite motifs and amazing craftsmanship of traditional textiles, both woven and embroidered, made in the different parts of the country. The exhibit will showcase a collection of traditional saris and other textile articles from Kashmir to Kerala and also from Rajasthan to Assam. A brief information about the articles will be displayed with all textiles. The department faculty and students will be available for further explanation, if required.

Bhorgiri village is a very small village. There are hills on the three side of the village. And one of the hills has Bhorgiri Fort and Caves. The trek route is through dense jungle and provides many opportunities for nature lovers and particularly Photographers!!! One can see the state animal of Maharashtra Giant Squirrel, in local language known as “Shekru.” In Monsoon this is the perfect trek for Beginners, Nature Lovers, and Photographers. It’s a plain Jungle walk of around 3 Hours which ends at “Gupta Bhimashankar”. One has to pass the Streams & waterfall to reach the Bhimashankar Temple.
